Steps to apply

1. Apply for Noncitizen Firearm License

   Apply for a Noncitizen Firearm License if you have never had one OR your existing Noncitizen Firearm License will expire in 60 days or less. 

   There is no renewal process for a Noncitizen Firearm License.  Noncitizen Firearm Licenses are good for two (2) years, and upon expiration, they are no longer valid.

   An application for a new (original) Noncitizen Firearm License cannot be submitted any earlier than 60s prior to the expiration of the current license.  Eligibility to possess a firearm will be determined upon results of new application.

   If your Noncitizen Firearm License expires, you will no longer be able to possess a firearm or Concealed Pistol License.

2. Check requirements

   The King County Sheriff’s Office only processes Noncitizen Firearm License applications for nonimmigrant non-citizens residing in King County. 

   Must bring list:  **no substitutions accepted**

   • Valid Passport
     
   • Valid Visa
     
   • I-94 printout
     
   • Proof of Gun Club Membership
       OR
     Valid WA State Hunting License (cannot expire within 60 days of application) 
3. Download and complete application

4. Make appointment

   The only location to apply or replace a Noncitizen Firearm License is King County Courthouse - downtown Seattle.  

5. Payment method and fees

   Check payment method and fees.  Payment methods accepted vary by location. 

6. Proceed to appointment

   Bring completed application, fees and all required identification to appointment!
