Confidentiality and Reporting
Can I report anonymously?
Yes. Phone workers will ask for information about the caller, targeted individual(s) (if other than the caller), the person or people who committed the act(s), and the incident. Callers can always choose to remain anonymous and are able to submit a report even if they do not have information about the targeted person(s) or the people who targeted them.
If you’d like to remain anonymous, just tell the person who answers your call and decline to answer any questions about yourself. The phone worker will move to the next question.
Will my information be shared with law enforcement or other agencies?
No. Crisis Connections is a nonprofit organization, and its staff and volunteers are not law enforcement. They maintain the confidentiality of all information you choose to share with them. For purposes of reporting on hate crimes, bias incidents, and service utilization trends, Crisis Connections shares only de-identified, aggregate data with the King County Office of Equity and Racial and Social Justice (OERSJ).How is my privacy protected?
Data from phone interactions are documented in a cloud-based HIPAA-compliant records system. Role-based permissions protect client data and confidential information, strictly limiting those with access.
Data is de-identified and reported in aggregate form to the King County Office of Equity and Racial and Social Justice to inform policy, prevention, and intervention efforts.
