Why fall prevention matters

Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults and can affect health, confidence, and independence. Each year, many adults in King County experience a fall or fall-related injuries that require assistance, emergency medical care, and in some cases, a lengthy recovery.

The King County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division collaborates with fire departments, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other partners to provide evidence-based programs, education, and community resources that help adults aged 50 and older reduce their risk of falling and maintain safe, healthy, independent lives.
