The Metropolitan King County today gave its unanimous approval to the appointment of David Pilgrim to the King County Landmarks Commission, representing local heritage organizations, position 2.
“David has been active in the Maple Valley community for over 20 years,” said Councilmember Reagan Dunn, who represents the Maple Valley community on the County Council.
“I am excited to be appointed to the King County Landmark Commission and look forward to being involved in preserving important historical areas in the County. “While I was on the Maple Valley City Council, I was involved in the renovation of the Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley and look forward to continuing that work on a larger scale.” said Pilgrim. “It is an honor to have Councilmember Reagan Dunn’s support and I enjoy serving the public in this capacity.”
Pilgrim has served on the Greater Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce, served as a member of the Couth County Chamber Coalition, President of the Wilderness Village Merchants Association and is currently a board member of the Maple Valley Historical Society. Pilgrim and his wife Sue owned the True Value Hardware store in the Wilderness Village Shopping Center for many years and he is currently Store Manager for Junction True Value Hardware in West Seattle.
Pilgrim has also served on Maple Valley’s City Council for 8 years and represented the city on the King County’s Landmark Commission.
“The Landmarks Commission will be well served by having someone with David’s experience and community involvement as a member of the commission.”
The 9-member Landmarks Commission was established in 1980 by Ordinance 10474 (KCC 20.62) to ensure that the historic places, material culture, and traditions which best reflect the region's history are preserved for future generations.
Pilgrim’s term on the Commission is through 2018.
