Records requests
The Sheriff’s Office Records Unit supports public disclosure requests, insurance inquiries, legal agencies, and in‑person or mail services, with multilingual forms available to support community access.
Requesting Sheriff's Office records
The King County Sheriff's Office is committed to providing you records in a timely manner.
- KCSO Legal Unit responds to Subpoena Duces Tecum Requests, Discovery Requests, King County Risk Management Claims, Office of the Ombuds Requests, and Inquest Program Requests.
- KCSO Public Disclosure Unit responds to records requests under RCW 42.56, The Public Records Act.
- KCSO Records Unit responds to LEA, Insurance and Government Agencies.
Inspecting records
In addition to records being made available as copies, you may elect to inspect a record at no charge. The process applies whether the records request is for copies or inspection.
Requests via mail
If you do not want to make your request on-line, you may print out a form and mail it in.
