Business recycling collection
Learn about business and commercial recycling services.
Recycling collection services
In King County, private companies handle curbside collection of garbage, recycling, and yard waste. To set up regular collection, businesses can request service from any private recycling company. Depending on your needs, you may wish to use more than one.
Many cities have a recycling coordinator who can provide guidance and answer questions. Use the drop-down to find the recycling coordinator and private recycling company for your area.
Some cities provide contracted recycling services for their business community, including:
- Auburn
- Bellevue
- Kirkland
- Redmond
- Snoqualmie
- Tukwila
Businesses can choose different or extra recycling services if they prefer.
What can I do if my property manager doesn’t provide recycling?
You can try reaching out to other onsite businesses to work out a shared recycling plan with the property manager.
You can also contact recycling companies to inquire about separate recycling pick-up or drop-off services.
Selecting a recycling company
Recycling companies require a minimum amount of material to make collection worth their time. Before selecting a recycling company, consider asking about:
- The types of materials they collect
- Whether materials can be collected all-in-one (commingled)
- Their minimum requirement for material volume or weight
- How frequently they collect materials
- Whether they offer free collection
- If they provide a dumpster or other collection container
- If they provide indoor desk-side containers
Self-haul recycling
If your business doesn’t need regular collection, you can bring materials to one of King County’s recycling and transfer stations.
