Motion supporting continued research, deprioritization of entheogens such as psilocybin approved by Council
"This motion formalizes what has already been true for a long time – that King County has not aggressively policed or prosecuted for this class of substances in decades. That made this motion easy to support – it did not require substantive changes to current practices. The biggest impact of this action is to add King County’s support as the largest county in the state, and among the largest in the country, to the growing chorus of jurisdictions that support taking a public health and commonsense approach to the use of entheogens."

Council approves Mosqueda-led ban on immigration enforcement use of county property
"As the federal administration imposes chaos, violence, and fear across the country, in King County, we are working together proactively to create greater stability and safeguards for our own communities. With this legislation, we are codifying protections against civil immigration enforcement on County property—shoring up safer spaces within King County..."

Mosqueda issues statement on cost-saving options for ST3
“I stand united with my North King County Sound Transit board colleagues in our commitment to delivering light rail to West Seattle and ultimately to Ballard, and we need the spine completed between Everett and Tacoma. To do so, we cannot work within the confines of limited information or stagnant revenue, nor can we accomplish further cost-savings measures if we don’t move forward with authorizing additional design work for some of our highest impact projects..."

Council passes Mosqueda’s emergency ban on ICE detention centers
“King County’s land and resources should be used to support the health, safety, and well-being of our communities — not to build systems that isolate, intimidate, and harm the very people who make our region strong. Detention facilities are being used to disappear our friends, family, and community members into inhumane conditions, often without due process — and they also carry serious consequences for the health and safety of surrounding neighborhoods. When our neighbors are afraid to seek medical care, shop for groceries, or send their children to school, they bear the immediate harm — and our communities lose the trust, connection, and stability that allow us all to thrive.”

January 27, 2026
Mosqueda motion calls on Congress to impose strict guardrails on ICE, other DHS agencies, in wake of three deaths at the hands of ICE agents
“The violence imposed and deaths caused by our own federal government under the guise of immigration enforcement must stop. People are scared to go to work, school, medical appointments, the grocery store, and required court hearings or immigration check-ins for fear they may be abducted by ICE due to the color of their skin or for having an accent. People across this country are taking courageous actions to document ICE’s activity, and are being physically attacked, brutalized, and killed by the very officers who are supposed to uphold the law. We cannot let this go on and Congress must stop funding this campaign of violence and terror.”
