Ryan White Part A Program

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is a federally funded program that helps people living with HIV get care, achieve viral suppression, and stop the spread of HIV.

The program provides clients with access to medical care, medications, and support services. The program is designed for low-income people with HIV to ensure that everyone has access to life-saving medication and the care they need to live healthy lives. Ryan White services work alongside health insurance or other coverage to fill gaps and provide additional support as needed.

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is divided into several parts, each with a different role in HIV care and services and by region.

Parts A, B, and C

Provides funding to urban areas with the greatest need for HIV services. In the Seattle area, Ryan White Part A provides services to clients in King, Snohomish, and Island counties. Part A funds non-profit organizations to offer clients a wide range of support services. Some of the services provided to eligible people include housing assistance, food and meals, transportation, oral health care, and other programs that help people stay engaged in HIV care.

Provides funding to states to support HIV medical care, medical case management, medications, and support services throughout the state. Part B also administers other programs that help people access HIV medications and remain in care.

Provides funding directly to HIV clinics and health centers that have primary medical care and related support services. Part C helps ensure people living with HIV receive comprehensive, high-quality care from experienced providers.

Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE)

As part of the national Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative, King County is committed to radically reducing new HIV infections by expanding access to HIV prevention and care services designed for populations that have the hardest time using them.

Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) is a federally funded program. The program is dedicated to meet the housing needs of low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
