This page shows how many people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 and progress towards equitable vaccine delivery across all racial and ethnic groups and regions of the county.
Current snapshot
This section shows COVID-19 vaccination coverage for the current season (2025-2026) for King County residents. COVID-19 vaccination coverage is an estimation of the population 6 months of age and older that has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in each season (defined as from September to August of the following year). Coverage data lets us understand how well communities are protected from COVID-19. The estimated 2024 King County population 6 months and older is 2,379,652.
Equity in coverage
This section shows COVID-19 vaccination coverage for the current season (2025-2026) for King County residents by region. It also compares the coverage by race/ethnicity in each region to the county average to show equity in COVID-19 vaccination coverage for the current season. The estimated 2024 King County population 6 months and older is 2,379,652.
COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to King County residents over time
This section shows COVID-19 vaccinations in the King County population over time. Each season is defined as the start of September to the end of August of the following year. The estimated 2024 King County population 6 months and older is 2,379,652.
Data notes
Vaccination data are from the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS). Due to reporting lags, all data are preliminary and subject to change. Data will be refreshed retrospectively with ongoing data quality improvements.
Reporting requirements
Participation in WAIIS is voluntary. Not all Washington healthcare providers report to WAIIS and they are not required to do so. This means some people are not in WAIIS and not all vaccinations are entered into WAIIS.
COVID-19 vaccination seasons
A COVID-19 vaccination season is defined as starting on September 1st and ending on August 31st of the following year. For example, the 2022-2023 season started on September 1, 2022 and ended on August 31, 2023.
Demographics
Demographic data (age, race/ethnicity, and residential area) are also from WAIIS. Missing demographic data in WAIIS are supplemented with demographic data from case reporting where available.
People with compromised immune systems
People with compromised immune systems have different recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines than people with healthy immune systems. Typically, more doses are recommended. However, we do not have data to identify recipients with a compromised immune system who therefore require more doses to achieve vaccination coverage. View dose recommendations from the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) for people with compromised immune systems.
Percentages
To estimate coverage percentages, population estimates from the WA Office of Financial Management (OFM) Population Unit are used. The estimated 2024 King County population is 2,378,100 residents. Vaccination counts from WAIIS may exceed population estimates and lead to greater than 100% estimated coverage, especially among populations with fewer residents or higher levels of misclassification of race or ethnicity. To reflect the level of precision of the coverage estimates, any coverage estimate above 95% is shown as ">95%."
