The EMS Community Programs Section can help you save a family member by learning CPR and learning how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator! We can help you learn to prevent falls in the homes of elderly family members! We can help you to be a more prepared citizen.
The Community Programs Section of the EMS Division provides community-based programs to enhance three critical links in the Chain of Survival,including Early Access to 911, Early CPR and Early Defibrillation. These programs include public awareness and education to citizens of King County regarding Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training, recognizing medical emergencies, calling 911 for medical assistance, injury prevention and health education.
The emergency medical dispatch program also provides EMD Guidelines for dispatchers and pre-arrival instructions to assist callers in providing first aid, CPR or defibrillation prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel.

Public access AED program
AEDs only work if you can find them. Registering an AED is an important step to knowing its location. It takes less than 5 minutes to add your device to the King County registry.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education
King County EMS provides CPR education and training to targeted groups. The desired impact is to increase the incidence of bystander initiated CPR and improve the chance of survival from cardiac arrest for citizens in King County.
Fall prevention
The One Step Ahead Fall Prevention Program works to assist older adults in staying healthy, independent, and safe in their homes.
Shape Up!
The Shape Up! program is designed to get older adults involved with physical activity programs at local community centers.
CPR remote learning: Lessons and resources
CPR/AED lessons and resources are available to teachers and students as a supplement to school CPR education remote learning plans.
