Our Energy Program has a leadership role in bringing best-in-class approaches to LEAN processes and operational efficiencies and recommending advanced technologies that expand WTD’s ability to recover energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and costs. We evaluate existing infrastructure systems and analyze energy performance to assist data-informed decisions.
Our strategic projects play a large part in the ability of the Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) to increase its production and use of renewable energy that reduces the reliance on external fuel sources. Through our partnerships with regional energy utilities, the Energy Program can often qualify for funding and energy efficiency incentives to offset expenses of reinvestment initiatives that contribute to the King County Strategic Climate Action Plan.
