Biography

Judge Hillary Madsen was elected to serve as a judge on the King County Superior Court. She joined the Court on January 11, 2021. Before Judge Madsen joined the Court, she worked as an attorney at Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP; Columbia Legal Services; and the Law Offices of Mackenzie Sorich PLLC. Judge Madsen also completed a fellowship with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and volunteered with the King County Family Law Court Appointed Special Advocate and Dependency Law (CASA) programs. Judge Madsen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma and earned degrees from the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law. She has been active in community organizations centering children and youth within our homelessness response, foster care, and juvenile legal systems. Her legal and volunteer work has taken Judge Madsen inside many of our prisons, jails, and detention centers. She is raising 3 children with her spouse in King County. Judge Madsen speaks Portuguese.
