Steven ‘Troy’ Smithmeyer has an extensive career in law enforcement with a vast range of expertise and experience.

He joined the King County Sheriff’s Office in 2000, starting in the Southwest precinct. He became a field training officer a few years later, teaching, and mentoring dozens of student deputies. In 2015 Troy was promoted to Sergeant and started that part of his career back at Metro, where he was awarded Sergeant of the Year twice. Additionally, he took over the Joint Transit Antiterrorism Team, as well as Metro Street Crimes. Another promotion made him a Captain, and he moved back to Burien as the administrative Captain 2020.
