Candidate Filing Open in King County!
MAY 5, 2025
The candidate filing period opened this morning, May 5, at 8 a.m. This week marks candidates’ only opportunity to file their Declaration of Candidacy and officially add their name to the ballot in 2025. Filing closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The deadline to withdraw is Monday, May 12 at 5 p.m.
Candidates are encouraged to file online. Elections has a variety of resources available, including a Candidate Manual, a list of Offices Subject to Election, and videos on how to file online and how to file voters’ pamphlet materials.
In April, KCE hosted two virtual candidate workshops to provide potential candidates with information about key dates and deadlines, how to file, and more. These workshops also included basic campaign finance information from the Public Disclosure Commission. A session that additionally included speakers from the Seattle City Clerk and Seattle Ethics & Elections for candidates running within the City of Seattle is also available.
An updated list of who has filed will be posted by noon and 6 p.m. each day until the filing period ends. The list will be finalized following the withdrawal deadline.
