A new home for hazardous waste in South King County

The South King County Recycling and Transfer Station in Algona opens September 2026.

Our new hazardous waste collection facility at the South County Recycling & Transfer Station opens on Sept. 14, 2026.

For the past 15 years, the Auburn Wastemobile has provided a convenient way for the community to safely get rid of hazardous products. It will continue operating on weekends through Sept. 13, then services will move to our new permanent location in Algona.

The new facility will be open six days a week, making it much easier to find a time that works for you. Whether you have old paint, pesticides, automotive products, household cleaners, batteries or other hazardous materials sitting around, we’re here to help you dispose of them safely at:

So, if you’ve been holding onto some hazardous products because you weren’t sure where to take them, you’ll soon have a new place to go. And with our new location being at a transfer station, you can drop off any garbage you have, too.
