Story
King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove this week provided the City of Renton with $55,500 in funding to help Renton residents stay safe and housed. The funding will be used by the city to support its rental assistance program.
“By providing a few months of rent payments, we often can keep folks safe in their homes,” Upthegrove said. “I am pleased to partner with the City of Renton to ensure local residents have access to this essential funding.”
As part of the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy, councilmembers can direct limited funding to communities for locally driven solutions to housing issues in their area.
“I want to commend Councilmember Upthegrove for his work to free up $55,500 in Veterans, Seniors, and Human Service Levy housing-stability funds for the Renton community,” said Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone. “This additional funding will benefit our rental assistance program. Housing stability is a priority, and we are investigating all funding sources to support those in critical need. We greatly appreciate Dave identifying and directing these funds our way.”
The Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy funding promotes healthy living, financial stability, social engagement, housing stability and service system access for veterans, seniors, and resilient communities.
