Story
The King County Council on Tuesday appointed Amanda Dodd to fill a vacant seat on the Bothell City Council by a unanimous vote.
The seat became vacant when Davina Duerr resigned from the Bothell Council effective June 1, 2022. Because the position was not filled within 90 days, or by August 30, state law requires the County Council to fill the vacancy in the next 90 days. At its regular meeting Tuesday, the County Council interviewed three candidates, all of whom had applied for the position in the Bothell phase of the appointment process: Tom Agnew, Amanda Dodd and Cary Westerbeck. Dodd was selected to fill the vacancy on the Bothell City Council.
“We had three strong candidates for this vacancy. I thank each of them for their service to the residents of Bothell and congratulate Amanda Dodd on being appointed today,” said Councilmember Rod Dembowski. “I look forward to working with her as we work in partnership for the residents of Bothell.”
"Thank you to Tom Agnew, Cary Westerbeck and Amanda Dodd for their strong civic engagement, which is critical to ensuring a forward-thinking city where all community members can thrive,” said Councilmember Sarah Perry. “Congratulations to Amanda Dodd on this appointment and I look forward to working together on the priorities of our Bothell residents!”
Dodd has lived in Bothell since she was five years old and is an active member of the community. She was a founding and leading member of Bothellites for People-Oriented Places (BoPOP) from 2018 to 2020. In the Fall of 2021, she joined the Bothell Police Department’s inaugural Community Academy. Since May 2020 she has served as a commission on the Bothell Planning Commission.
Dodd has worked at Salesforce since 2017, where she is currently a Senior Technical Account Manager. She is a graduate of the Lake Washington Technical Institute.
