Story
The Metropolitan King County Council on Tuesday confirmed the reappointments of Federal Way residents Kathy Hancock to the Women’s Advisory Board and Orisade Awodola to the Behavioral Health Advisory Board.
“Both Kathy and Orisade are valuable members of their respective Boards," said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7. "I am pleased to have sponsored their reappointment and know they will continue to draw on their professional training and lived experiences to work toward creative solutions and ideas for King County."
In addition to her prior service on the Advisory Board, Kathy has experience as a real estate professional and as a member of the Federal Way Ethics Board. She has been reappointed for a full-term on the Women’s Advisory Board, expiring on July 1, 2024.
As a mental health professional, Orisade brings over two decades of experience in the fields of psychology and chemical dependency, as well as previous service on the King County Mental Health Advisory Committee, to the Behavioral Health Advisory Board. She has been reappointed to a partial term expiring on March 31, 2023.
The Women’s Advisory Board was created to foster programs, legislation, and policies for the benefit of women throughout King County, and acts in an advisory capacity to the Executive, the Council and the women’s program in response to matters concerning women.
The Behavioral Health Advisory Board works to promote the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery and the de-stigmatization of mental illness and addiction. The board reviews mental health and substance use disorder services for the King Behavioral Health Organization to provide input and counsel to King County on priorities, policies, budgets, and programs for the residents of King County.
