It’s estimated that $35.4 million dollars will be sent to Washington state for substance abuse prevention and treatment and another $19.2 for community mental health.

“Our community is battling an epidemic in more ways than one. Drug and alcohol use and mental illness have skyrocketed as people we know and love struggle—too often unseen and without help—with loneliness, isolation, grief, and great financial stress brought on by the last year. From my own experience, I know how critical that help is to achieving sobriety.

“The gravity of our addiction crisis demands urgent action. I urge our region’s leaders to see this new $54.6 million in federal funding as an opportunity to make an impact by providing comprehensive treatment for those who are suffering with mental health and addiction.”
