The King County Council on Tuesday completed its sixth year of awarding the Martin Luther King Medal of Distinguished Service to members of the community who responded to Dr. King's question: "What are you doing for others?"

Awards were spread out over several council meetings this year, beginning Oct. 26 and ending on Nov. 16.

Award recipients, by district, are as follows:

  • District 1: Ming-Ming Tung-Edelman
  • District 2: Cherryl Jackson-Williams
  • District 3: Brandy Badger
  • District 4: Carlye Teel
  • District 5: Barbara Drennen
  • District 6: Kurt Triplett
  • District 7: Gordan Banks
  • District 8: Alejandra Tres
  • District 9: Carmen Goers
