Port of Seattle Executive Director Stephen Metruck joined King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer’s January “Good Eggs” breakfast at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Federal Way. The breakfast provided Metruck an opportunity to update South King County community leaders and elected officials on the projects underway at the Port of Seattle.

Metruck discussed the Port’s vision to be a globally competitive airport. Sea-Tac Airport, which is managed by the Port of Seattle, has been the fastest growing airport five years in a row. Currently, the airport is over capacity, but investments are being made and expansions are underway to relieve the capacity constraints created by the region’s rapid growth. The Port has also begun building a sustainable airport master plan and is actively working with South King County communities impacted by airport noise.

The group also discussed the maritime investments the Port is making, including in tourism, cargo, manufacturing, innovation, and industry. Currently, the Port is modernizing Terminal 5, making Terminal 46 dual use, and investing in industrial lands and maritime innovation programs.
