Story

Today Metropolitan King County Vice Chair Reagan Dunn welcomed fairgoers to the King County Fair – the longest-running county fair west of the Mississippi. As part of a long-standing Fair tradition, Dunn and Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro gave tickets to the first two children in line for the fair.

“Welcoming the youngest generation to the King County Fair is always a special experience,” said Dunn. “The Fair is a long-standing tradition in our community that is beloved by both the young and the old. I am honored to be able to be a part of the excitement each year and look forward to it every summer!”

Dunn and Molinaro handed tickets to Cooper and Quinn Mansanarez, who were first in line to enter the Fair. They were joined by the Fair Bear, and a Texas Longhorn steer. Dunn also announced the winner of the Critter Crown contest: Salvador the rabbit, owned by Rebecca Glover.

“We are celebrating 156 years of the King County Fair! The grounds look amazing and we are gearing up for some good-ol’ family summer fun,” said Rene Popke, Enumclaw Expo Center General Manager. “It has been exciting to see the community show support so we can continue to grow and provide opportunity through displays and exhibits. We are thrilled to feature timber and forestry as the Agriculture Exhibit as this is a huge part of our region. We hope families join us and take the opportunity to build family tradition around a community celebration.”

The Fair runs from Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21 at the Enumclaw Expo Center, 45224 284th Avenue SE, Enumclaw, WA. The fair is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission includes all exhibits and concerts. Ride tickets and wristbands are sold separately. Admission for adults (13 & up) is $10 and kids ages five and under are free. Parking fees are $5.
