Created by filmmaker Tomasz Biernacki, “Trickle Down Town” documents visits to homeless encampments and interviews not only residents of encampments such as “Camp Second Chance,” but also those working to help move people from homelessness into permanent housing.

“This film provides a unique glimpse into the everyday struggle of our neighbors living without permanent housing and the folks who work tirelessly to help them,” said Kohl-Welles. “I’m looking forward to a robust conversation about the film and the steps being taken to compassionately address our homelessness and housing crises.”

Kohl-Welles and Gossett will be joined by Tomasz Biernacki for a post viewing conversation that will include Sharon Lee, Executive Director of the Low Income Housing Institute, Timothy Harris, Executive Director and Founder of “Real Change” Newspaper, and Gordon McHenry, President & CEO of Solid Ground.

“Trickle Down Town not only creates an enhanced visual component to the all too familiar homeless crisis in our region, but also shows what we all can do as a community to ameliorate the problem,” said Gossett. “I look forward to cosponsoring this event with Councilmember Kohl-Welles and the UW Law, Societies and Justice Department.”
