The Panther Lake Trail Extension project, which began construction last June, is scheduled to open Tuesday, February 26. The project includes a new 50-foot pedestrian footbridge, adjacent 26-stall parking lot and interpretive sides as well as the 1-mile loop trail.

“I am excited for the completion of the Panther Lake Trail and pleased King County could partner with the City of Federal Way on this important project,” said CouncilmemberPete von Reichbauer, who represents Federal Way on the King County Council. “This trail will promote recreation and physical fitness, enhancing the health of citizens in Federal Way.”
The estimated cost of the project is $1.08 million, with funding provided by both King County and the City of Federal Way. The King County Parks levy will pay for 83 percent of the project, with Federal Way covering the costs.
