“Today marks a new chapter in how we as a region respond to homelessness by ending our fractured approach and replacing it with a consolidated regional authority that will provide cost efficiencies and cost effectiveness in responding to our homelessness crisis.
“I want to thank the Seattle City Council for passing this proposal before the end of the year.
“Keep in mind, no new taxpayer funds are being expended as a result of this legislation. The intent is to make our taxpayers’ money used more efficiently and effectively.
“We must act urgently and get this new authority up and running quickly and in a way that it is well prepared to better serve our neighbors most in need.”
