District 7 Organizations Receive Funding through 2018 Community Service Grant Awards

Summary

“These volunteer-driven projects help strengthen our communities as neighbors engage with other neighbors.”

Story

Four non-profit organizations in King County District 7 will receive Community Service Grants, which are awarded to help community organizations in unincorporated areas of King County expand volunteer-driven projects and events. These organizations and awarded projects include:

• The Kings Grove HOA - $1,000 for basketball court repairs;
• Green Valley Lake Holm Association - $1,500 for community outreach, meetings and events;
• Heather Highlands HOA – $1,200 for a National Night Out event; and
• Soos Creek Area Response – $500 for community outreach and education.

“I am pleased to see neighbors in South King County come together to enhance their neighborhoods through a variety of creative activities,” said Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7 on the County Council. “These volunteer-driven projects help strengthen our communities as neighbors engage with other neighbors.”

The awards came after a competitive applications process in which King County Parks received a record number of grant applications from organizations in unincorporated King County. For 2018, a total of $90,000 was awarded to 65 organizations throughout King County.
