Summary
“The Mirrormont community is grateful for King County’s CSA Grant Award enabling us to take on a project that would otherwise not happen”
Story
Metropolitan King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn announced today that a community project in the greater Issaquah area will receive a financial boost from King County’s Community Service Area (CSA) program. The grant awarded to the project is designed to support programs that allow unincorporated county residents to become more connected in their communities.“I was glad to have worked with my colleagues on the council to increase this year’s grant funds by 50 percent in order to better support unincorporated communities,” Dunn said. “These grants help to create more active and vibrant communities.”
The Mirrormont Community Association was awarded a $2,000 grant to hold a Spring Clean-up for their community. This community event will remove trash and waste that are too large to fit in garbage bins.
“The Mirrormont community is grateful for King County’s CSA Grant Award enabling us to take on a project that would otherwise not happen,” said Linda Shepherd, Mirrormont Community Association President. “It will bring people together to clean up our neighborhood and build more community in the process. Such projects are especially important in our rural environment.”
There are more than 72,000 residents of Council District 9 living in unincorporated communities. Grants are available through a competitive application process. The grants must be used to fund community projects that offer unincorporated area residents an opportunity to participate and be more connected in their communities. A total of $90,000 was awarded for projects in 2017.
