Washington Secretary of State recognizes 50 years of Fairwood Greens Homeowners’ Association

Fifty years ago, the Fairwood Greens Homeowners’ Association filed letters of incorporation with the Washington Office of Secretary of State. In recognition of the neighborhood and surrounding community of Fairwood’s historic 50th anniversary, Secretary of State Kim Wyman joined King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn and King County Sheriff John Urquhart today in honoring representatives of Fairwood Greens.

“It’s a great honor to recognize Fairwood Greens on its 50th anniversary,” said Wyman, whose Corporations Division registers corporations, charities and nonprofits. “Congratulations to the association on reaching this terrific milestone.”

“We, the Fairwood Greens Homeowners Association, are honored by this recognition and extend our thanks to Councilmember Dunn and Secretary Wyman.” said Jim Canterbury, President of Fairwood Greens HOA. “50 years as an organized, fully volunteer, Homeowners Association is something to celebrate. We’ve come a long way as a community and I am personally excited to see how we continue to grow and develop.”

In addition to the significance of the anniversary, today’s recognition also celebrates the neighborhood’s spirit of fellowship and service to the larger community. Each year the neighborhood hosts a number of events designed to promote community unity, including a concert series, garage sale, and summer block party.

“Fairwood Greens Homeowners Association has been an important part of Fairwood since the community's origin,” said Dunn, who represents Fairwood on the County Council. “Today's recognition not only honors that legacy, but also celebrates the history of the neighborhood and surrounding area."

Fairwood Greens’ 50th anniversary coincides with the larger community of Fairwood’s 50th Anniversary celebration. To mark the occasion, Dunn has partnered with the King County Parks Department and members of the community to host a day-long festival at Petrovitsky Park this summer, Saturday, August 27.
