Organizations in Snoqualmie Valley receive Community Service Area Grants

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert announced today that eleven organizations in the Snoqualmie Valley region of her district have received 2016 Community Service Area grants from King County.

The grants are awarded to projects throughout unincorporated King County that “…offer unincorporated area residents in the Community Service Areas an opportunity to participate and be more informed and connected in their communities.”

”I’m very pleased that so many of the deserving organizations in the Snoqualmie Valley have been awarded grants,” said Councilmember Lambert. “I know these grants are often the seed money that makes sure the projects are completed. This money will benefit valued projects applied for by the community.”

The grants require a community match of at least one-fourth of the total project and cannot total more than $5000 to any one organization. The grants in the Snoqualmie Valley region of District 3 were awarded to:


• Fall City Community Association: contribution towards a portable projector

• SnoValley Tilth: contribution to support “Community Roots Day” at the Carnation Market

• Snoqualmie Valley Community Network: contribution to support a leadership summit for youth

• Mt. Si Senior Center/Snoqualmie Valley Transit: contribution for SnoValley transportation community planning and engagement

• Snoqualmie Valley Preservation Alliance: contribution towards meeting room equipment

• Fall City Metropolitan Park District: contribution for portable toilet rentals at Olive Taylor Quigley Park

• Preston Community Club: contribution to support development of Preston Mill Park

• Wilderness Rim Association: contribution to support a children’s playground at Cascade Park

• Si View Metropolitan Park District: contribution to support community outreach promoting the North Bend Market

• Fall City Historical Society: contribution towards 2 large historic signs

• Sno Valley Senior Center: contribution towards carpeting for the center

”It’s the Council’s responsibility, as the local government in the unincorporated areas of King County, to support the citizens who live in these areas,” said Lambert. “I know these grants will be used to improve our citizens’ quality of life in each of the organizations that are recipients. I appreciate all the groups that applied for the grants and know they will be well used.”

There will be additional grants available next year. Organizations in the unincorporated areas of King County are encouraged to plan ahead to apply. Applications will be available in late fall.
