Council approves annexation of land for fire and emergency services

Story

The Metropolitan King County Council today unanimously approved the annexation of 6.5 acres of land into King County Fire Protection District 40. The residential property, located in the unincorporated King County community of Fairwood, was annexed into the Fire District for the purpose of fire and emergency services from the Fire District.

The property, known as the Bristow Annexation, includes four parcels located just east of SE 196th DR on SE Petrovitsky Road. The Bristow area annexation by Fire District No. 40 will give the residents of this area access to fire protection service, emergency medical services and related public services without effect on land zoning regulations or population allocations.

“Fire protection and emergency services play a huge role in the public health and safety of our community,” said King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn, who represents the Fairwood area on the Council, “The Bristow annexation will allow for even more citizens to be guaranteed the protection they deserve.”

“We have been working with the community to complete the annexation process for over a year and we are delighted that all our residents will enjoy all Fire District 40’s services,” said Fire District Commissioner Linda Sartnurak.

All of the residents of the area signed the petition in support of annexation. The petition was adopted by the Fire District in June 2014 at a public hearing.
