Leann Kranick unanimously appointed to the King County Agriculture Commission

The Metropolitan King County Council unanimously confirmed the Executive’s appointment of Enumclaw area resident Leann Kranick to serve the remainder of a three-year term on the King County Agriculture Commission.

Ms. Kranick’s appointment to the Commission, a forum for farmers to provide input on land use issues affecting commercial agriculture, was sponsored by Metropolitan King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn.

“I am thankful to Councilmember Dunn for the opportunity to serve on the King County Agricultural Commission,” said Krancik. “It will be both a pleasure and a privilege to contribute my experience and knowledge towards enhancing and promoting agriculture in King County.”

Ms. Kranick comes to the Commission with years of experience and knowledge of ecology, commercial dairy farming, current challenges that face the Agricultural business. She has been a resident of Council District nine since 1999 and currently also serves on a number of other agricultural boards including the Northwest Dairy Association (Darigold), Washington Farm Bureau, Washington Dairy Council, and the Washington Brewers Guild.

“I am pleased to support Leann Krainick’s appointment to the King County Agriculture Commission,” said Councilmember Dunn. “As a small business owner and long-time dairy farmer in the ninth council district, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the commission.”

The King County Agriculture Commission consists of fifteen members that actively participate and engage in existing and proposed legislation affecting commercial agriculture. The Commission also handles land use issues, livestock regulation, and ways to promote regional agricultural efforts.
