Story
After observing a moment of silence today for one of the region’s deadliest natural disaster of the past century, the members of the Metropolitan King County Council released this statement on the efforts to rescue, recover and comfort all those impacted by the Oso landslide:“Everyone in our region, and many throughout the world, are deeply touched by the horrible and ongoing tragedy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and the communities in Oso, Arlington, and Darrington. We are also grateful to the dedicated Emergency Services personnel and first responders – including the many volunteers, National Guard troops, and Red Cross workers – who continue the difficult task of aiding those who have lost so much.
“There’s difficult work ahead, but the people of Washington—and the world—are ready to help the communities recover and rebuild.”
