Councilmember Rod Dembowski invites public to District 1 Town Halls

Summary

Sheriff, Attorney General, Mayors to join community meetings

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski announced a series of town halls today that will take place in the cities of Shoreline, Kenmore, and Woodinville and the communities of north Seattle in District 1. These town halls mark the first in a series of meetings that will take place in every community in the District in 2013.

“I am committed to listening and learning from the residents of the District so county government can be as efficient, accountable, and responsive as possible,” said Dembowski. “I am honored to be joined by our region’s leaders, to help answer the needs and concerns of our residents.”

Councilmember Dembowski will be joined by King County Sheriff John Urquhart in Shoreline, Attorney General Bob Ferguson in Seattle, Mayor David Baker in Kenmore, and Mayor Bernie Talmas in Woodinville.

“Town halls are a fantastic way to connect one-to-one with the citizens that we serve,” said Sheriff John Urquhart. “As the newest member of the Council, Rod Dembowski has hit the ground running, and I greatly look forward to jointly hosting a town hall with him to discuss law enforcement issues in District 1, and all of King County.”

“When I was on the King County Council, town halls were a great way to hear directly from folks and talk about what matters most to them in their communities,” said Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson. “I am looking forward to hosting this town hall with Rod, and discussing cooperation between the state, county, and cities.”

Current county issues that may be covered include: Metro Transit funding, law enforcement, parks and environmental stewardship, healthcare and human services, Office of Public Defense restructuring, funding for the criminal justice system, proposed drunk driving regulations, and other issues of concern to the community.

Staff will also be on hand to help respond to citizens’ concerns.
