Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson released this statement following the Seattle City Council’s action on the proposed arena and approval of a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MOU):“Basketball and hockey fans in our region reason have reason to cheer today with the Seattle City Council approving a revised MOU, but the final buzzer hasn’t sounded yet.
“In order to move forward with the proposed arena, all three parties – City, County, and private investors – must reach a final unified agreement. The arena proposal now returns to the County Council for reconsideration.
“I look forward to reviewing the revised MOU, which increases King County’s financial obligations. I will work to ensure that any final deal protects County taxpayers. I am confident that all parties can reach an agreement in the coming weeks.”
