Retired all-terrain vehicle will assist group in support of first responders
Story
The “Soup Ladies” of Black Diamond, best known for their dedicated service of feeding first responders such as police, fire departments, EMS and search and rescue teams, received a retired King County Sheriff’s Office 4x4 all terrain truck from Metropolitan King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn. The retired truck, which was delivered on November 12, will assist the Soup Ladies in helping keep first responders nourished during backwoods search and rescues and other types of emergencies related to weather where an all-terrain vehicle will be safer.
“The Soup Ladies are an invaluable volunteer group here in the Pacific Northwest,” said Dunn. “I am ecstatic to play a part in securing this vehicle that will help them continue to serve our community. A big thank you goes out to the Sheriff’s Office and the County Executive as well who also played a part in making this handover possible.”
“Over the years I have appreciated all the hard work Reagan Dunn has done to help the Soup Ladies: from getting money for our first vehicle and mobile kitchen trailers, to our new all- terrain truck,” said Ginger “Mama” Passarelli, founder of The Soup Ladies. “It is comforting to know someone as caring as Reagan represents us.”
The Soup Ladies next task includes a trip to the New York City region to assist in the recovery from the devastating effects of Superstorm Sandy.
