Lambert to Chair Accountability Committee
Summary
Story
In 2011, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert of Redmond will continue as chair of the Government Accountability and Oversight Committee, which sets the agenda for county operational policy. New committee assignments were part of the Council committee reorganization adopted at its January 18 meeting.“The priority put on customer service in our new Countywide Strategic Plan will highlight the work of the Government Accountability and Oversight Committee,” Lambert said. “I am interested in additional improvements in the cost-effectiveness of county operations, particularly through the efficiencies that technology offers, such as online forms and meetings. I am honored by this leadership opportunity to help King County to meet the challenges of providing core services during a period of reduced resources.”
The Government Accountability and Oversight Committee considers policy matters concerning a variety of county services, including the departments of assessments, elections, records and licensing, animal control, cable communications, telecommunications, facilities management, purchasing and wastewater treatment, as well as programs such as risk management and performance management. The committee also has oversight of the King County International Airport (Boeing Field).
Councilmember Lambert also will continue to serve as vice chair of the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee and as vice chair of the Employment and Administration Committee. In addition, she was named as vice chair of the Law, Justice, Health and Human Services Committee and the Board of Health, and she continues to serve on the Regional Water Quality Committee and a number of outside committees.
