Districting Committee unanimously appoints Terrence Carroll as Chair

Summary

Story

The King County Districting Committee on Monday unanimously appointed former King County Superior Court Judge Terrence A. Carroll to serve as Committee Chair. Carroll is a well-respected arbitrator and Distinguished Jurist in Residence at the Seattle University School of Law.

Carroll specializes in alternative dispute resolution, and has heard more than 3,000 mediations and 1,000 arbitrations over the past 20 years. Prior to his service as a mediator and judge, Carroll worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney, a public defender, and a private practice attorney.

A Seattle native, Carroll has served on numerous boards and commissions, and has served as an advisor or consultant to local governments, particularly in areas of law enforcement and ethics. He was appointed the first Internal Investigations Auditor for the Seattle Police Department, serving 11 years.

The Districting Committee is the responsible for redrawing Council districts based on 2010 Census data.
