King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer hosted a breakfast meeting for south King County business and civic leaders with Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy as the guest speaker.

Executive McCarthy was elected Pierce County Executive in 2008. Located just south of King County, Pierce County deals with similar issues as South King County. The roundtable discussion gave the leaders in attendance first hand information on shared issues such as budget reductions, transportation development, potential flood issues, public safety and the job economy in Pierce County.

“Under Executive McCarthy’s leadership, Pierce County and South King County have reached a new level of common ground,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer. “Our Counties are linked together in many ways and when we are able to work as one, it is most beneficial to our region.”

“Pierce County is intrinsically tied to South King County,” Said Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy. “South King County’s development and projects are important to our success as a County.”

As Executive of Pierce County, McCarthy oversees 22 cities and towns and a population of over 820,000 people. McCarthy’s current initiatives for Pierce County are economic development, sustainability, executive management, and environment. Executive McCarthy is also highly active in Regional leadership roles, as she currently serves on 13 different regional boards.
