Since its inception in 1995, the Federal Way AmeriCorps program has grown to be one of the largest in the nation. Over 1,300 members and volunteers make a difference in the community through academic tutoring and modeling an ethic of service.
AmeriCorps members serve full time in the Federal Way Public Schools. In addition to tutoring students and developing before and after school programs, members implement and serve in community projects. AmeriCorps members also recruit and train community volunteers.
“This program has positive impacts on both the volunteers and our community,” said Pete von Reichbauer, King County Councilmember. “As our nation and local community weather this trying economy, it is the culture of service that AmeriCorps exemplifies that will help us persevere.”
