“Time and time again, Councilmember von Reichbauer has stepped in to help the Federal Way Senior Center fulfill its mission to provide a place for seniors of South King County to play, learn and serve in an environment of respect, support, empowerment and opportunity,” Dr. Nathan Brown, Executive Director of Federal Way Senior Center said. Brown made his comments to the room full of Gala Dinner guests as he prepared to name von Reichbauer Honorary Lifetime Member of the Center.
According to Brown, von Reichbauer has advocated tirelessly for the Center throughout his 15 years on the King County Council, working to advance the interests of South King County seniors. In November, von Reichbauer restored a $25,000 proposed cut to the Federal Way Senior Center as he urged the council’s budget leadership to protect senior services.
“The Federal Way Senior Center is developing a long-term strategy to improve its services and financial solvency. Few organizations can do as much with so little as the Center has managed to do,” von Reichbauer stated.
The Federal Way Senior Center is located in unincorporated South King County and supports activities for senior citizens in the King County areas of Auburn, Edgewood, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Milton, Pacific and nearby unincorporated areas. The Center has a 30-year history of providing recreational, educational and volunteer opportunities to seniors.
