Patterson, County Council recognize Special Olympians

SeaTac, Normandy Park athletes part of Team USA for Winter Games
Story
Metropolitan King County Councilmember Julia Patterson led the Council in recognizing six athletes who participated in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Idaho this February for their inspirational determination, talent, and accomplishments. Athletes recognized at the Council’s February 23 meeting included snowboarder Craig Daly of Normandy Park and alpine skier Delight Andresen of SeaTac. Daly and Andreson are very special athletes, taking two of the 330 spots on Team USA.This 2009 Winter Games involved more athletes representing more countries than any other Winter World Games in the United States, including the 2002 Winter World Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. This year Daly and Andreson joined 2,500 athletes from 100 countries competed in seven sports: alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, speed skating, snowshoeing and floor hockey.
Councilmember Patterson represents SeaTac, Des Moines, Tukwila, Kent, and part of Renton.
