WaterWorks Grant Program
The WaterWorks Grant Program provides approximately $6 million in funding every two years to organizations carrying out a variety of water quality improvement projects in the service area for King County's regional wastewater system.
Nonprofits, schools and educational institutions, agencies, community groups, tribes, and special purpose districts are all eligible to apply—and partnerships are encouraged.

Application process
There are two different tracks for applying for grants: the competitive track and the council-allocated track. Both tracks have the same eligibility criteria, and similar applications, but the review and selection process are different. Proposals for the council-allocated track are selected by King County Council.* WaterWorks staff administer all grants after they are awarded, and all grants have the same reporting requirements.

Determine your eligibility
Find out if you’re eligible to apply for a WaterWorks Grant and learn the “who, what, and where” of our program.

Prepare your proposal
Prepare for writing your proposal by watching the recording of our information session. Then, review examples of WaterWorks funded projects and learn about our proposal evaluation process, our funding policies, and regional water quality responsibilities. Find helpful resources—including tips for writing grants—on the resources for applicants page.

Submit proposal online
All application materials, including the Letter of Intent, must be submitted online through the grant portal.
