New Year's Day holiday closures and service impacts

King County government offices will be closed to observe New Year's Day. New Year's Day is on January 1.
If January 1 falls on a Saturday, New Year's Day will be observed the Friday before. If January 1 falls on a Sunday, New Year's Day will be observed the Monday after. All offices will be back on a normal schedule the following day.

In 2025, New Year's Day will be on Wednesday, January 1.

Transit

• Check Metro bus and transit holiday service information to see if service is different on New Year's Day.
• Check Water Taxi schedules to see if there is service on New Year's Day:
  • Vashon Island to Seattle
  • West Seattle to Seattle
• Metro offices will be closed. This includes customer service, lost and found, and pass sales.

Courts

District Court, Superior Court, and the Superior Court Clerk’s office will be closed.

Other services

• Solid waste facilities and transfer stations will be closed.
• Contact your garbage collection service provider for information on collections.
