Dembowski statement on the passing of Mike Lowry:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mike Lowry. Governor Lowry served the residents of King County as co-chair of the charter review commission and as a County Councilmember, before being elected to Congress and later Governor.

“As a County Councilmember (elected in 1975), Mike led efforts to abate water pollution, reform regional government and invest in communities with strong health and human service programs, especially for young people.

“Governor Lowry was a friend and political mentor and I will miss him greatly.”
