Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer secures additional funding for Federal Way pre-apprenticeship programs

September 30, 2024

Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer last week announced $125,000 in funding for the Federal Way High School Pre-Apprenticeship Program, ensuring that this program will continue serving students throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.

“Whether they are considering a blue-collar or a white-collar path, students in the Federal Way School District should have every opportunity available to help them succeed after high school,” von Reichbauer said. “The pre-apprenticeship program creates additional opportunities for students to access high-paying jobs and I am pleased that it has grown in recent years.”

Councilmember von Reichbauer met with the Federal Way School Board to announce this funding and advocate for the pre-apprenticeship program. Von Reichbauer invited King County Budget Chair Girmay Zahilay to attend the presentation because of his support of this appropriation. With this new $125,000 investment, the total amount Councilmember von Reichbauer has secured for pre-apprenticeship programs in the Federal Way Public School District rises to $375,000.
