NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing before the Metropolitan King County Council will be held at the King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Avenue Room 1001, on the 23rd day of June 2026, at 1:30 p.m. to consider the adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2026-0103, which establishes the sewer rate and capacity charge for the year 2027. Remote public testimony on Zoom will also be accepted. Written public testimony will be accepted from 9 a.m. on May 22, 2026, through 10 a.m. on June 23, 2026, by sending such public testimony to clerk.council@kingcounty.gov. SUMMARY

Proposed Ordinance 2026-0103 would make a determination of the sewer rate for the year 2027 that must be charged in order to meet the monetary requirements (administration, operating, and maintenance, repair and replacement costs) of the County's sewage disposal program. The proposed sewer rate for 2027 is $70.65 per month per residential customer equivalent (RCE). The adopted sewer rate for 2026 is $62.66 per RCE per month.

The proposed ordinance would also set the capacity charge for sewer connections occurring between and including January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026. The capacity charge is the fee that is assessed against customers establishing new connections to ensure that those customers bear their equitable share of the cost of new capacity-related sewage facilities necessary to serve them. The proposed capacity charge for 2027 is $83.10 per month per RCE for fifteen years. The adopted capacity charge for 2026 is $77.99 per RCE per month for fifteen years.

Final Action:

Prior to final action, Councilmembers may offer amendments for consideration by the Council. Persons wishing to testify on the Proposed Ordinance should attend the public hearing in person or remotely on June 23, 2026, or provide testimony in writing prior to the hearing.
