Judge Kevin Atwood Peck
Judge Kevin Atwood Peck was unanimously appointed to the King County District Court (KCDC) bench in December 2019 by the King County Council. During nearly three decades of prior judicial experience, Judge Peck served as a KCDC pro tem judge for criminal and civil cases, and as a King County Superior Court arbitrator for contract disputes and personal injury cases.
As a practicing attorney for 36 years, Judge Peck focused on legal discrimination cases and criminal justice advocacy. He represented more than 200 people in a wide range of discrimination cases, including sexual harassment, gender, race, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age and ethnicity.
A strong proponent for civil rights, Judge Peck was co-counsel in a U.S. Supreme Court case upholding free speech rights. He also chaired the Washington State Bar Association’s Civil Rights Committee and was a board member of Washington Community Action Network (WCAN) for more than three decades. Additionally, his legal experience includes serving as a public defender in approximately 30 felony or misdemeanor jury trials.
