Airfield Electrical Project - Phase 3
King County International Airport-Boeing Field will install new runway guard lights and a new lighting control system in mid 2025. This project is intended to enhance safety on the airfield, as well as improve the airfield's electrical efficiency through the use of LED lamps instead of incandescent lights.
The work will include installing in-pavement and elevated runway guard lights at taxiway intersections B1 and B5. (IPRGLs were already installed at B10 in 2024.) In addition, workers will install an Airfield Lighting Control Management System (ALCMS).
Work is expected to start in June 2025 and last 30 calendar days. Work outside the Runway Safety Area (RSA) will take place seven days a week from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Within the RSA, work will occur in the late evening and overnight hours as indicated below. All times are in local Pacific time.
- Mondays - Thursdays: 8:15 p.m. - 3:45 a.m.
- Fridays: 8 p.m. - 5:15 a.m.
- Saturdays: 9:15 p.m. - 3:30 a.m.
- Sundays: 8:15 p.m. - 5:15 a.m.
There will also be work taking place inside the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) lot from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and in the ATCT cab from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
