Scooter share pilot program
2020-2023
King County had a pilot program for shared electric scooters from August 2020 through March 2023 in the North Highline Urban Unincorporated Area, including White Center, to offer new mobility options. The pilot program has ended, and shared scooters are no longer available in this area. King County has assessed the pilot program, and is working to determine if a broader shared mobility program would benefit King County communities. The final report on the pilot program is available for download.
Pilot program goals
The 2020-2023 scooter share pilot program was designed to determine if shared scooters could support King County policy goals:
- Improving first and last mile connections to transit
- Reducing private motor vehicle use and congestion
- Promoting safe travel with this form of transportation
- Improving pedestrian safety, accessibility, and convenience for people of all ages and abilities
- Providing equitable transportation services
- Reducing air pollution, including climate pollution
