YouthSource: Tukwila
YouthSource started in 2003 as a “one-stop” service center for young people ages 16-24 who had fallen behind or dropped out of high school.
Our goal is to provide as many services as possible in one location so that young people are able to complete their secondary credential (GED or high school diploma) and move on to college or employment.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Be between the ages of 16 and 24
- Have dropped out or left high school
- Need support to find a job
- Need support to go to college
Education services
We offer and deliver HS Diploma and GED pathways in partnership with Renton Technical College for:
- Contextual learning related to careers
- Aligned with Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EARLS)
- Open entry/open exit
- Project-based learning
- Self-paced and student-centered
- Small group instruction-focused
Employment services
Employment services provide career exploration with:
- Hands-on experience
- Internships in fields of interest
- Job placement services
- Job readiness training
- Job retention services
- Job search assistance
Other services include:
- Community/service learning
- Interpersonal skill development
- Justice committee/advocacy work
- Life skills training
- Public speaking presentations
- Student council
